KIWI Solo Mining
KIWI Tokens can be mined with very moderate gear - even a regular laptop finds solutions from time to time. The best option is a CUDA-enabled Nvidia GPU PC that is also a requirement for Cosmic Miner. Otherwise, your option is SS3 Miner, a command-line based miner for all platforms.
For KIWI mining only solo mining is possible - there are no mining pools for KIWI. In solo mining, a miner interacts directly with the smart contract. There are no pool fees, and all concurrent solo miners compete against each other. If two or more miners find a complete solution for the same block, the one with the highest gas price gets the tokens. For others, mint transaction fails and a small amount of ETH gets burned (not much).
Before you start, create or choose an Ethereum address to be used in mining. Send in some ETH for minting tokens. That address interacts directly with KIWI smart contract and receives yout newly mined and minted tokens. As littele as 0.01 ETH gets you started.
Remember that mining will not yield tokens if there is no ETH when new solutions are found. Observe the ETH balance of your mining address.
Cosmic Miner:
- Your need a Windows PC.
- Check that you have a CUDA-enabled Nvidia GPU. Use this free utility to check your equipment and drivers.
- Update your Visual C by running vc_redist.x64.exe update from Microsoft (optional but recommended).
- Download Cosmic Miner and vcruntime140_1.dll (if needed).
- Extract all in one folder.
- Launch Cosmic.exe application.
- Create a shortcut to Cosmic.exe on your desktop (optional).
- Create a free Infura key.
- Configuration:
- Open Cosmic Miner (Cosmic.exe). Go to "Options" -> "Solo Mining Setup."
- Paste your Infura key in "Node Address:" field.
- Paste KIWI contract address 0x2bf91c18cd4ae9c2f2858ef9fe518180f7b5096d in "Contract Address:" field (if missing).
- Check that "Gas Price (Gwei):" is equal or higher than "Standard" Gas price - see this site for current prices.
- Import your private key and encrypt it using a password. Save the password for convenience (optional). Your private keys stays on your PC.
- Click "Save settings."
- From drop-down (bottom right) Select "Solo Mode."
- Hit "Start Mining!"
- Get solutions and newly mined KIWI tokens!
SoliditySha3 Miner:
- An option for CPU mining.
- Works on all platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac).
- Unlike Cosmic, SS3 Miner supports CPU, Intel and AMD GPUs, in addition to Nvidia CUDA GPUs - or all four options together.
- Instructions for setting up SS3 Miner.
- SS3 Miner is a command-line based miner, but has an additional UI option for Windows.
- SS3 Miner can be set up with moderate computer skills, and it is extremely solid miner for all platforms.
Please note that mining software extracts a modest developer fee from time to time; Cosmic has a 2% minimum fee, but you can increase it if you like.
